American Interschool Riding Competition

Welcome graphic

Welcome to the AIRC web site. Results of the final meet of the 2009-2010 season are now posted.

Congratulations to EKG I, this year's champion team.

Thanks to all the volunteers who made the final show possible. Thanks to Hazelwild for hosting the final show.

Special thanks to Southern States in Midlothian, Virginia for providing gifts to all of our scholarship applicants.

AIRC is an independent organization whose purpose is to provide a friendly and instructional riding competition between students of member riding schools during the winter season, and to encourage and promote team sportsmanship.

The AIRC shows are based on the Intercollegiate horse shows, IHSA, where students compete on the host school's horses. Riders are judged on their Equitation in three sections, 2'6", 2' and alternates. The team members draw horses at the beginning of the show and compete on horses that they have never ridden before. Team members need not own a horse to participate, but must take weekly lessons. The show season runs from November to March. The final show takes place in March where the team members compete on horses used in the lesson program.
